Teen Pregnancy

According to Healthcommunities.com “Teenage pregnancy over the years has become one of the most important issues. In the years of 1991 to 2005 about 60 out of 1,000 teenage girls have gotten pregnant. In 2006 and 2007 the pregnancy rate has increased to more then 42 out of 1,000. That is approximately one-third of the teenage population. According to satistics approximately 1 million teenage girls become pregnant each year in the United States, about 13 percent of U.S. births involve teen mothers and, about 25 percent of teenage girls who have already given birth have another baby within two years.”

Being a mother at such a young age comes with many complications such as the baby possibly being born premature and, not having enough money to support your child because teenage births are associated with lower incomes which causes 80 percent of teenage mothers to apply for welfare. Not only does being a young mother effect the child’s life it also effect’s the teenagers life because to have a child you need to have a job and it’s hard for a young mother to have to juggle a baby, work and, school which would most likely cause the teenager to drop out of school. I believe that most of these teenage pregnancy’s are unintentional because most pregnancy’s are done while the teenager is under the influence or has obtained to much alcohol. There should be a certain law towards teenage pregnancy. The reason I feel this way is because to many young girls are getting pregnant and for the most part are ruining their’s and their baby’s life. I believe that if a teenager or an adult doesn’t have enough money or is stable enough to have a kid then they shouldn’t be aloud to keep their child because they are causing harm to the baby’s life.

Frita Kahlo

Frita Kahlo was a young women who grew up in a town named Magdalena Carmen. She lived at home with her parents. One day Frita took a bus ride and got into a terriable bus accident. She was injured very badly where she was paralyzed to the point where she couldn't walk she had to use a wheel chair. Some may think that this accident was bad and ruined Frita's life but while being paralyzed she needed something to occupy her time while being stuck in a full body cast she then decided to paint painting of experiences she has had in her past, her marriage etc... All together Frita painted 143 paintings 55 of those paintings were self portraits of herself which represented physical and mental pain she has or is going through. In her paintings she uses alot of bright colors and werid designs which symbolize the Mexican culture, she also throws in some religious Mexican traditions in her paintings. After finally recovering from her terriable bus accident she still continues to paint and asks some Mexican painter named Diego Rivera for advice on if she should purse painting as a career. He tells her that she should because she is a very good Mexican painter. Frita then later on purse's a relationship with Diego, then they get married. Because of affairs with Frita's younger sister cristina they did get divorced but later on got remarried again. Once Frita died in 1954 even though Frita and Diego had their differences he still loved her very much and he relized that once she died. I did enjoy watching this movie I'm going to admit that i thought this movie would be boring at first but once I really sat and watched it i started to really enjoy it. As in class when looking through the textbook of Frita's paintings they really caught my eye and i was able to recognize all the symbols and what they meant in her paintings.

Life Is Unfair

I feel like the world today is very unfair unless you have money. The reason I feel this way is because last year around this time a girl by the name of Jessica Tush was murdered by her boyfriend. It's very upsetting to know that an innocent girl was murdered for no reason and as of right now her boyfriend is free. I find it ridiculous that this young girl is dead and this kid gets to run the streets until his trial when a kid from my neighborhood was sent to jail from anywhere from 5 to 7 years for just having a weapon on him. It's rediculous how the kid from my neighborhood is sent to jail with out any bail for just have a weapon on him and this boy who murdered his girlfriend gets to walk the streets until his trial day just because he has money. I feel like the law system is very corrupted and only favors those who have money. I believe that the boy who murdered his girlfriend shouldn't have the right to be able to walk the streets because this is not the first time he has hurt somebody. Previous girlfriends have statements stating that he has beating them before. So how is it that this boy has been chargered with crimes like this before maybe not as serious as death but close enough to it gets to walk the streets because he own's a 2 million dollar house when his bail is only 1 million dollars his family was able to pay it gets to walk the streets and the boy from my neighborhood who was sent to jail with no bail for something that doesnt even come close to what this kid who murdered his girlfriend did. I'm sorry but i believe that anyone who kills another human being for no reason at all what so ever should have the right to even be able to walk the streets until their trial day. Life today is very unfail unless you have money.

The Metamorphosis By: Franz Kafka

The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka is about a man named Gregor Samsa who was unaccepted by his family and was only respected for the money he brought home. He was responsible for paying off his father’s debt. Gregor wakes up one morning and comes to the conclusion that he is a giant insect. The problem is that he acts as if nothing is wrong. Gregor still feels and acts like a human being would in the situation he is in. All he is concerned with is being on time for work. When his family sees him there reaction is extreme. They start throwing things at him, making him feel isolated. His room is used for storage ignoring the fact that he exists. The only person who attempted to give him a chance was his sister Grete. By the time she was willing to give him that chance he died the next morning. After reading this short story I feel that even your family can turn their backs on you when you need them the most. The author is very talented and I found this book to be very interesting.

The Economy

Are we in a depression? Some people may think we are but others think differently. Right now we are in a recession which could possibly lead to a Depression but I don't think it will be as bad as the 1930's Great Depression.Even though there are many similarties between today's economic crisis and the 1930's crisis there are also many differences. The 1930's Great Depression consist of money not being equally given out to both the middle class people and the rich and, the stock market. People who invested in the stock market only invested because it was a quick way to "make money" which prices started to get very high which then all of a sudden one day just crashed. Today's recession is based on the housing market which is just like the stock market crash because it led to drops in other property markets. So if today's recession is very similar to the 1930's Great Depression wouldnt you think that would scared us? Well I guess it doesn't because we are spending our money on stupid things we think we "need" but we really don't. Us as kids today are just as bad as adults because we spend all our money on stupid and, worthless things. We dont understand that being in this recession is scary and that it's causing people to lose their jobs and god for bid our parents lose their jobs we could be stuck with nothing in the end if we spend our money stupidly. So I think that we should start spending our money wisely just incase we end up in a Depression just like in the 1930's.
